CNC Programmer
Position summary:
Translates and converts methods data to prepare programs for CNC machining operations largely through the application of established and predetermined reference data. Organizes operational data as submitted by engineers; or when so directed, utilizes documented standard data as it applies to align and code operations, tooling identification, indexing sequences, speeds and feeds for data entry. Documents established program standards. Prepares instruction sheets for machine operators, maintains library records and references incidental to the assignment.
Essential Functions:
- PROGRAMS: Writes all programs for the CNC Mills and CNC lathes. The programmer will have to make adjustment to the program to optimize the run cycle. The programmer will select the proper tools and set the feeds and speeds for each tool.
- NEW TOOLING: The programmer will design the fixtures for holding the part during machining. Tooling is designed by how the part is to be run according to the program.
- OLD PROGRAMS: Programmer will have the responsibility of keeping programs up to the latest drawing revisions. They will also review the programs to remove all excessive machine time. Tool list must be updated as required by drawing changes or by changing the program to run more efficiently.
- TOOL LIST: The tool list is made up as the program is written and the tools are selected. Tool list is to be maintained by the programmer and updated only with his and the ME in the machine shops okay.
- SETUP DRAWINGS: Will supply the shop with setup sheet for specific job. The drawings will show each setup required to finishing the part in the machine shop.
- PROGRAM 1ST ARTICLE: The programmer will make all adjustments in the program to ensure an acceptance of the 1st The program then is ready for production to run.

Mechanical aptitude. Understanding of fixtures. Ability to read blueprints and follow both written and verbal instructions. |

Education and Experience: |
Requires at 7+ years of hands on machine shop experience with at least 4 years working with CNC mills and CNC lathes. 5 years CAD/CAM program experience. Must have experience with Surfcam and knowledge of Solidworks. Mori Seiki, 5 Axis Mill and Multi Axis Lathe preferred. |
