The University of Georgia is seeking qualified candidates to serve as the Archway Professionals in Grady and Pulaski Counties. The Archway Partnership's mission is to facilitate community interaction with the University of Georgia and connect communities with University of Georgia and other higher education resources to address locally identified community and economic development needs.
The Archway Professional will spend approximately 80% of their time in the county and region and 20% on campus. The Archway Partnership is built on the premise of easy access to the University of Georgia and effective delivery of University of Georgia resources back to the community. In this regard, the Archway Professional is the point of contact in the community and as such represents the entire University.
The Archway Professional is the lead faculty member in the Archway Partnership community and works with community leaders to identify and address local needs. The Archway Professional’s primary responsibilities include: a) building relationships with community members and understanding UGA and other higher education resources; b) facilitating the meetings of the local Executive Committee and meetings of Issue Work Groups; c) assisting the community and the Archway Operations Coordinator in articulating and continually prioritizing community needs; d) coordinating Archway Partnership activities with other local and regional higher education institutions and state agencies; e) utilizing decision-making and problem-solving skills to identify resources and assist community work groups with accomplishing objectives; f) visiting the University of Georgia and other institutions of higher education campuses to meet with faculty, students, and administrators as needed; g) managing student and faculty involvement in local projects; h) documenting activities and program impact, including scholarly engagement as a Public Service Faculty member; and i) engaging in professional development activities relevant to community priority areas and commensurate with status as a Public Service Faculty member. The Archway Professional reports to an Archway Operations Coordinator who works collaboratively with UGA faculty to identify appropriate higher education resources to address local needs. Per recent Board of Regents’ policy, successful candidate will be required to submit to a background investigation.
