Water & Sewer Department:

  • Collects, maintains, and analyzes data from testing and evaluation of water quality.
  • Coordinates scheduling of cleaning, preventive maintenance, and repair of wells, water tower, vacuum stations, and lift stations.
  • Liaison with the City of Gordon wastewater facility.
  • Implements scheduling for test and evaluation of water and sewer mains, valves, and vacuum pods.
  • Schedules monthly water meter readings.
  • Maintains activity records and prepares reports as required.
  • Recommends and requisitions parts and equipment.

STREET/RIGHT-OF-WAY/CITY PARK MAINT:

  • Repair holes in paved streets.
  • Check drainage problems and resolve, or report to mayor and council if assistance is required.
  • Maintain right-of-way.
  • Maintain street signs.
  • Keep City Park maintained.

GENERAL:

  • Responsible for care and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
  • Responsible for inventories.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Knowledge of State regulations pertaining to water, sewer, and street operation.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment to include backhoe and dump truck.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, associates, subordinates, and the general public.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports and to maintain important records efficiently.

SUPERVISORY CONTROL:  The Mayor and City Council provides general instructions, and reviews work for accuracy and compliance.  Leave requests will be made to Chair over maintenance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School or GED equivalent diploma.
  • Public works experience desired with some supervisory experience.
  • Current Georgia State Certification for water /  waste water or become certified within 12 months after probation period.
  • Current Georgia State Driver's License.
