Sanitarian- In-Training $3,335.06/month based on an hourly rate of $19.24/hour. Pay rate for a licensed Registered Sanitarian in this position starts at $3,943.49/month based on an hourly rate of $22.75 + Excellent Benefits. Higher rates of pay will be considered for applicants with a MT RS license and previous experience in the field.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SPECIALIST
GALLATIN-CITY COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Gallatin City-County Health Department Environmental Health Services seeks a detail-minded individual with demonstrated skills serving the public to join our team. The position is located at the Gallatin City-County Health Department Environmental Health Services Office and is responsible for conducting inspections in restaurants, hotels, pools, spas and other establishments. The individual also provides technical guidance and ensures compliance with public health laws. The position reports to the EHS Director or to an Environmental Health Specialist Program Lead, and does not supervise staff.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This work requires knowledge of the principles and practices of physical and life sciences; working knowledge of federal, state, and county sanitary and public health regulations and enforcement procedures; research and investigation techniques; skill in the operation of databases and standard office software; and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing in occasional adversarial situations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience. The incumbent must become a licensed Registered Sanitarian within 12 months of hire. To become a licensed Registered Sanitarian in Montana, you must have a Bachelors degree in Environmental Health or an equivalent degree including specific course requirements including one (1) course in microbiology. Licenses and Certifications: Applicants for this position must possess a valid driver’s license and be insurable under the County’s liability policies.
