Assists the Office Manager in coordinating the day to day operations of the department which includes scheduling courses and related process with classrooms and syllabi posting, and assists processing HR transactions.

  • Assists the Office Manager in the overall management of the department. Provides administrative support to the Office Manager, Chair/Associate Chair and all members of the Biology department.
  • Provides information and interpretation of University policies and procedures and routing of inquiries made to the Chair/Associate Chair to the appropriate areas within the University. Arranges appointments for the Chair/Associate Chair as needed.
  • Works closely with the Chair and Associate Chair in the process of course assignments for Faculty. Coordinate with Faculty teaching needs.
  • Provides assistance and training to new employees regarding office procedures.
  • Assists the Office Manager and Chair/Associate Chair as needed in resolving problems not requiring their personal attention. Answers inquiries and provides information as needed.
  • Submits requests for contracts for employees and the credentialing forms for the regular and visiting faculty.
  • Responsible for entering the course schedules, keying in classes, and coordinating classroom space requirements with the College's scheduling.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED and six (6) years of office or related experience providing administrative support or managing/coordinating functions of an office or department; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with Peoplesoft preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. Excel).
