Manages the FIU Pawsitively Aware - an educational program for students that oversees sexual assault prevention, hazing prevention, and active shooter awareness. Working within Student Health & Wellness, this position works collaboratively with campus partners on health promotion efforts that lead students to feel educated and empowered to make healthy and responsible choices that contribute to their overall personal and academic success.

  • Manages the day-to-day operations of FIU's Pawsitively Aware program. This includes oversight of three educational programs: sexual assault prevention, hazing prevention, and active shooter awareness.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates various strategies - specifically on hazing prevention and sexual assault prevention - to address the needs of the student population through presentations, events, tabling and educational programs. Schedules such activities through collaboration with key campus partners such as Housing and Residential Experience (HRE), Fraternity and Sorority Enrichment (FSE), Victim Empowerment Program (VEP), Student Conduct & Academic Integrity (SCAI), Athletics, Band, among others.
  • Works collaboratively with community partners and vendors to coordinate, implement, and evaluate risk reduction programs/activities (e.g., Vector Solutions, PreventZone, PantherConnect, FIU Develop).
  • Responsible for enrolling students in the three courses, tracking completion each semester, and generating data reports for relevant departments.
  • Assists Student Health & Wellness with other risk prevention efforts and high-profile events (e.g., Out of the Darkness Walk).
  • Assists Student Health & Wellness leadership with preparing yearly learning outcome reports for both courses and relevant programming, and the FL-Board of Governors (BOG) Student Wellness Dashboard.
  • Contributes to implementing and sustaining all action items related to institutional, state, and federal audits, regulations, and laws. This may include, but would not be limited to, updating websites and printed materials, ensuring timely and accurate completion of reports, verifying policies and procedures from student organizations, etc.
  • Works closely with the Healthy Living Program's prevention specialists (e.g., Alcohol and Other Drugs [AOD] Coordinator, Health Educators) on cross-collaborative initiatives with university departments and student organizations.
  • Works with SHW Marketing team to develop social media and marketing content relevant to the health/wellness needs of the student population.
  • Serves as a member of Fraternity & Sorority Enrichment's advisory team, specifically related to new member education as well as member risk education/prevention and assessments. This includes supporting FSE councils and chapters with educational efforts (e.g., hosting educational workshops, providing recommendations for programming).
  • Participates on university committees and task forces, as needed (e.g., National Hazing Prevention Week, Red Zone, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Domestic Violence Awareness Month).
  • Assures compliance by remaining up to date on knowledge of laws and policies that affect the practice and share regularly with other members of the team. Remains informed of best practices in health education and prevention areas.
  • Supervises and trains student assistants, interns, and volunteers. Facilitates regular meetings to ensure goals/objectives and action plans are met.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of related experience, or Master's degree in an appropriate specialization and two (2) years related experience.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Degree in Health Education, Public Health, Higher Education, or a related field.
  • Experience with hazing prevention and/or sexual assault prevention programs and initiatives.
  • Experience working with college-aged students. Demonstrated success with advising and programming in an educational environment.
