Position Requirements: Summit County Sheriff’s Office is seeking a well qualified Civil Clerk. The position performs essential work in handling the Civil Process paperwork received by the Sheriff’s Office. The work involves intake, clerical, and processing of civil process and sheriff sale paperwork. The position provides clerical and administrative support to the uniform Civil Deputy. The position also provides service for the front desk and public counter with the Records Staff. The primary work location is at the Sheriff’s Office located in the Justice Center in Breckenridge.
The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented professional with word processing, data entry, spreadsheet, basic mathematical, money handling, account reconciliation, monthly reporting, organizational, time management and communication skills. The candidate should have excellent customer service demeanor in answering phones and in-person questions in a high volume public counter or other work environment, have strong written and verbal communications experience, be professional in directing and interacting with the public during times of emotional and stressful situations.
The candidate will be experienced and successful being detail-oriented, accurate in work product, in managing work tasks and completing within established timelines. The selected candidate will demonstrate a proven ability to quickly absorb and understand unfamiliar subject matter.
Required Qualifications: 1 year clerical and/or legal clerk level experience. This can be accomplished through equivalency of professional administrative and customer service positions. Preference will be given to a candidate with a college degree and any experience working in the criminal justice and legal fields. Must be able to pass a background check, psychological test, polygraph and obtain a security clearance for work with Criminal Justice Records. Must possess a valid driver’s license and be capable of safely operating a motor vehicle. Candidates proceeding in the process will be required to complete a Sheriff’s Office Civilian Application.
