The Office of Public Information and Publications at The University of Tampa has an opening for a Social Media Coordinator for Enrollment. The Social Media Coordinator for Enrollment, as a member of the Office of Public Information and Publications’ social media team, will be responsible for leading the growth and management of digital campaigns and communications strategy using social media for the Office of Admissions and the Office of Graduate and Continuing Studies. The position is expected to play a critical role in achieving Admissions' social media growth goals and driving engagement through social media content across all owned social platforms. 

 

A successful candidate will be a digital-savvy marketing professional, with a passion for creating engaging, measurable online marketing campaigns that align priorities across the University with a keen eye to discovering the story to tell in the UT Admissions process. 

 

This role is pivotal in monitoring, managing and finding social media communities that align with the enrollment goals of The University of Tampa as well as developing engaging content to interact with parents and prospective students, the Tampa Bay community, and other audiences and constituencies associated with UT. The position will analyze and report on growth, engagement and overall impact of the social media efforts on enrollment. Through a variety of social channels, this role thoroughly understands the benefit of use of each platform and recommends and executes digital projects based on UT’s goals.

 

Responsibilities
●   Discover the story to tell in the Admissions process – from opportunities to visit campus to informational wisdom (e.g. “Top 5 Tips for A Successful Application”), to personalizing interactions.
●   Find fun and collaborative ways to help UT’s prospective students and their families navigate the Admissions lifecycle through social media engagement. 
●   As part of the University’s overall social media team, contribute to the content calendar, strategize and create relevant shared content, and assist other offices and departments on individual campaigns

  •  Develop successful social media campaigns to support specific events at the University. 
    ●   Create and maintain the editorial content calendars related to Admissions social feeds, including strategically establishing new accounts on platforms not currently utilized. This may include, but is not limited to, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube. 
    ●   Communicate daily about content creation, overseeing campaign schedules that determine success or failure by pulling key performance indicators.
    ●   Strategize and create organic and paid social media/digital marketing campaigns and advertisements related to the University’s priorities for enrollment and brand awareness.
    ●   Efficiently manage paid campaigns including ad creative and targeting strategy. Analyze performance against key performance indicators and identify opportunities for optimization.
    ●   Collaborate on scheduling, designing, writing and publishing content to official UT social media platforms as needed, in support of UT’s overall communication and brand efforts. Work closely with Public Information, Enrollment Management and other UT departments as needed to grow audiences and maintain quality communication and customer service with online communities. 
    ●   Coordinate social media group meetings and advise and train key offices and departments on social media opportunities.
    ●   Research new social media and digital communities, trends and tactics.
    ●   Design graphics for social media and web.
    ●   Manage student employees, as necessary, for social media content needs.
  • Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.

 

Minimum Qualifications
●    Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, advertising, marketing or related field.
●    Minimum of two (2) years of professional social media marketing experience required.
●    Ability to spot and react to social media trends; ability to create social content in line with those trends (i.e.: viral TikToks, engagement through Instagram Stories, etc.).
●    Demonstrate understanding of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, YouTube, LinkedIn, TikTok and latest social trends.
●    Experience with Meta Ads Manager or Sprint Social, Hootsuite or other social media management platforms. Experience with creating weekly reports and extracting key insights from data points.
●    Ability to work across departments as a teammate who connects the dots and makes an impact on the business.
●    A creative eye and the ability to think strategically.
●    Excellent written and verbal communications skills, with the ability to write concise, creative and compelling messages.
●    Knowledge of social media tools and updates, best practices, analytics, target marketing, video storytelling and scheduling.
●    Excellent judgment and high standards of responsibility and ethics and must adhere to the social media guidelines of the University.
●    Possess a trained eye for spotting and creating excellent photography and graphic design.
●    Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator and video editing software.
●    General understanding of SEO and Google Analytics.

  •    Some weekend and evening event coverage is required.
  •  Travel for content creation is possible but infrequent.

Preferred Qualifications
●    Experience with filming, editing and producing videos.
●    Ability to create animated GIFs.
●    Blogging experience.
●    High levels of empathy and can connect deeply to the mission of UT.
●    Considered by others to be a self-starter and able to work without a lot of direction.
●    Team player who supports the overall goals of UT’s digital marketing strategy.
●    Comfortable working with multiple platforms simultaneously, and having the ability to learn software quickly

  •  Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
