The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Science at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte seeks candidates for Teaching Asst Professor/Lecturer/Lab Manager.

Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals. Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.
Applicants must be able to teach undergraduate mechanical engineering courses and labs and be actively involved in undergraduate curriculum and development activities. Duties involve teaching up to four classes each semester and some service responsibilities. Preferred experience/expertise includes teaching design courses, teaching and managing laboratory courses, and supervising design teams.
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. Completion of a minimum of five years as Teaching Assistant Professor or five years relevant external employment is preferred. A successful candidate is expected to contribute to teaching and curriculum development, support research initiatives, and contribute to diversity initiatives at the University. Applicants should express their experience teaching; recruiting, supervising, and instructing others; maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment; and developing new labs. Applicants will have the ability or definite promise in the mutually agreed upon areas of responsibility, the ability and willingness to participate in department, college, and university affairs, and the ability and willingness to address multicultural issues in teaching and outreach/service activities.
